HIGHLIGHTS of Wine Tours in the
COGNAC
FRANCE

Cognac wine region is tied to a wonderful section of the Atlantic Coast. Beaches, sand dunes covered in pine trees, neat vineyards, cognac distilleries, gentle cropping land, forests, plus prosperous towns and cities like Cognac, Saintes, Royan and Angouteme, make it an interesting area to explore.

Fishing Huts

Along the coast you will find clusters of fishing huts, Carrelets. These ingenious structures are designed to cope with the huge local tides approximately 3 metres, plus the rages of the Atlantic storms. The nets are lowered into the sea and lifted by means of a hand winch. The catch can vary from a few crabs to sardines and other small fish.

Beaches

The beaches range from safe family bathing to wild surf for the adventure seekers. Caution: on a number of beaches tidal rips exist at high tide. Swimming is fine from May to October, however wetsuits help!
